Solarium Surface Calculation

Square Eaves -or- Double Gable:

R= Roof
H= Height @ Attachment Point
W= Width from Attachment Point
L= Length @ Face
F= Face Height

To Calculate Surface Square Footage:

1. Gable End (G.E.):
                     H x = 8' x 10' = 80 sq.ft. x 2 G.E. = 160 sq.ft.

2. Roof:
                     R x L  = 9' x L
( Note: Due to off cut on Acrylic sheet, we use 9' instead of 8' 7 ½" )

3. Face:
                     F x = (7' x L) - (Knee wall area)
( Note: Due to off cut on Acrylic sheet, we use 7' instead of 6' 5". Also the example employs use of a 24" height [2' x L = sq.ft.],   Knee Wall, this usually would be calculated as a separate rate depending on the methods and materials therein. )
 

Example:  ( From Above Plan )

Assume L = 20 ft.

Therefore:           Gable End:   H x = 8' x 10' = 80 sq.ft. x 2 G.E. = 160 sq.ft.
                                                                      ( Less Knee Wall @ ( 2' x 4') + ( 2' x 10' ) = 28 sq.ft.
                             Roof:            R x L    = 9' x 20' = 180 sq.ft.
                             Face:           F x L    = 7' x 20' = 140 sq.ft. ( Less Knee Wall @ 40 sq.ft. )
                             Knee Wall:    [(2' x 10')+(2'x4')] + (2'0" x 20') =  28 sq.ft. + 40 sq.ft.  = 68 sq.ft.

Hence:                 TOTAL Glazed Area:    160 + 180 + (140 - 68) = 412 sq.ft.

Volume ordering will decrease your material cost per sq.ft. and shipment cost per unit.
